When Do Teeth need to Be Removed?
While we do whatever we can to restore teeth with fillings and crowns, if a tooth is too damaged to be saved, we’ll need to extract it. Teeth are typically extracted when a severe amount of decay has damaged the internal portions of the tooth (pulp) so much that it cannot function on its own. We may also need to remove teeth if a serious injury knocked it out of its socket and it cannot survive, even if reimplanted.
